Frequently Asked Questions

What Makes your meat taste so good?

We work hard to raise world class meat from start to finish. We do not rush the process; we believe quality takes time. We pour our heart and soul into every animal that we raise, and you can taste it in our meats!

Where are you located

We graze our livestock over the fertile pastures of the lower Connecticut River Valley. The Upper Forty Farm was originally established in 1986 as an organic vegetable farm by Krista's grandparents Ben and Kathy. When we purchased the farm in 2023, we transitioned to livestock. We believe grazing livestock works in harmony with nature. It creates the perfect balance where we care for the animals, the animals care for the pasture, the pasture feeds the livestock, and the livestock feeds us.  All without disturbing the soil health, and without adding dangerous chemicals and fertilizers to the soil.

Are You Organic?

When you are not certified organic, legally you cannot use the word organic. However, we are 100% mindful to practice and produce all-natural products. We raise what we believe is the best product to feed our own children and share it with our customers.

We believe that when you get to know and trust the family raising your meat, that means more than a certification sticker on a package, so the red tape and extra cost to the consumer associated with certification is not necessary.

Are you GMO Free?

Yes, all of our livestock feed on the farm is 100% GMO-free.

Are your animals pasture Raised?

Our beef and lamb are 100% pasture raised. Our pigs are raised in paddocks where they have 24/7 access to shelter and the outdoors.

Is your Meat Hormone Free?

Yes, our meat is 100% free of any kind of growth hormones or any added hormones.
